Software in service of empathy
UNHCR needed to bring the realities of forced displacement closer to people who have never lived through it. We built My Life as a Refugee: an interactive mobile experience on iOS and Android that uses story-driven, time-locked episodes to immerse the player in the decisions and constraints faced by displaced people.
The app pairs the narrative with in-app donation flows, turning empathy into action. It's been used by educators, advocacy groups, and the general public to bring humanitarian work into a format that meets people where they are.
